Valpene Stone Pyramid

Krišjānis Barons, the collector of the Latvian folk songs or Dainas, was a pupil of Valpene elementary school in the 19th century. The pyramid was built in 1990, on the initiative of Imants Ziedonis, a popular Latvian poet. It is 9 m high with the perimeter of 38 m. The names of Valpene homesteads have been cut in the stones.
